Oman’s share index edges lower

Muscat: The MSM30 Index closed the session at 4,894.60 points, down 0.11 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index lost 0.15 per cent to end at 691.94 points. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. With gain of 4.71 per cent, Galfar Engineering was the top performer, while Oman & Emirates Holding was the day’s top loser, down 2.70 per cent.
A total number of 742 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR2.84 million with 16.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 41 traded securities, 7 advanced, 12 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors remained net buyers for OMR590,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR563,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR27,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index was unchanged at 7,331.44 points. Al Anwar Holding, NBO, Al Ahlia Insurance and Al Sharqia Investments gained 2.60 per cent, 2.39 per cent, 1.11 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively. Oman & Emirates Holding, Gulf Investment Services, Bank Sohar, HSBC Bank and Bank Muscat declined 2.70 per cent, 2.25 per cent, 1.28 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.11 per cent to close at 6,713.29 points. Galfar Engineering, up 4.71 per cent, was the sole gainer. Gulf International Chemicals, Al Maha Ceramics, Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Fisheries and National Aluminium decreased 2.14 per cent, 1.05 per cent, 0.81 per cent, 0.75 per cent and 0.33 per cent respectively.
Services Index declined 0.05 per cent to end at 2,561.95 points. Al Kamil Power and Oman National Engineering increased 3.85 per cent and 1.07 per cent respectively. MCDE and Omantel declined 0.65 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively.
