UN Secretary-General praises Oman's peace efforts in Yemen

Washington: Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, praised the role of the Sultanate of Oman in supporting the international efforts exerted to settle and resolve differences in the Republic of Yemen, and to bridge the divide among the countries of the region.

He stressed that the establishment of good relations among the countries is one of the basics for stability and development, adding that Muscat is the gateway to peace.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations stressed during the annual Iftar held by Ambassador Dr Mohammed bin Awadh Al Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York, at the headquarters of the Sultanate of Oman’s mission in New York, in the presence of their Excellencies, ambassadors of the GCC countries.

He said that the international community appreciates the Sultanate of Oman for peace efforts, which lead to peace and coexistence.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations expressed his regret for the human suffering experienced by the Palestinian people in the occupied Arab territories, stressing that support for the humanitarian and relief efforts to help the Palestinian refugees should not be abandoned.
