Muscat: Parts of Oman received heavy rainfall on Friday and early hours of Saturday.
Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) said that it was likely to continue for the remainder of Saturday.
PACA recorded that Saiq and Izki in Dakhliyah province received the heaviest rainfall from Friday 10 am to Saturday 10 am.
Saiq received 21.6 millimetres (mm) of rainfall while Izki was battered by 16 mm of rain.
Samail was the third wettest place with 1.6 mm of rain being recorded in the city. Moreover, the port city of Sohar received 1 mm of rain.
About 0.8 mm of rainfall was recorded in Boushar and Quriyat respectively.
Moreover, PACA announced that rains would continue lashing some parts of the Sultanate. They said that heavy rain was likely over Hajar mountains. Foggy conditions would prevail over south Sharqiyah and Wusta, they added.
“Clear to partly cloudy skies will be seen over the northern governorates of the Sultanate. There are chances of isolated rain and chances of development of convective clouds and isolated rain occasionally thundershowers over Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas in the afternoon.
“Mainly clear skies will be over the rest of the Sultanate with chances of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog patches over governorate of south al Sharqiya and Al Wusta,” an official PACA statement said.
