Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,854.31 points, down by 0.09 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.82 per cent at 475.45 points.
Dhofar Generating, up 10.00 per cent, was the top gainer while Al Maha Marketing, down 9.65 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Ominvest were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 924 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of RO 2.32 million, with more than 8.16 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 12 advanced, 9 declined, and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR221,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR203,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR18,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,766.26 points, down 0.17 per cent. Prices of Al Batinah Development Company, Muscat Finance, United Finance, Al Anwar Investment, Oman & Emirates Investment were up by 6.06 per cent, 1.70 per cent, 1.59 per cent, 1.27 per cent and 1.15 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Madina Takaful, Al Sharqia Investment and Oman United Insurance were up by 7.61 per cent, 2.67 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,011.89 points, down 0.06 per cent. Prices of Oman Flour Mills were up by 3.45 per cent respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement and Voltamp Energy were up by 4.41 per cent and 1.87 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 1.23 per cent before closing at 1,683.77 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating, OIFC and Shell Oman Marketing were up by 10.00 per cent, 0.91 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively. Prices of Phoenix Power and Ooredoo were up by 3.39 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively.
