Muscat: In appreciation of Omani fans’ support to the national team, the Oman Football Association (OFA) has announced free entry for the forthcoming Oman-Palestine Asian Cup qualifying match.

The final match of the 2019 Asian Cup Group D qualifiers is scheduled to be played at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on March 27. The match will kick off at 7:00 pm.

According to a statement issued by the OFA on Wednesday, the Sultanate’s football governing body took the decision while appreciating the fans support to the national team as well as acknowledging the need for a large turnout for the home match.

"The national team will host the Palestinian team in Muscat on March 27. The match will take place at the Sultan Qaboos Stadium in Baushar at 7:00 pm," the OFA added.

In the away match played on June 14, 2017, Oman was handed a 2-1 defeat by Palestine.

The Palestinians lead the four-team Group D, which also comprises Maldives and Bhutan, with 15 points, while Oman is in second place with 12 points.

Oman and Palestine, both of who have already qualified for the 2019 Asian Cup in the UAE, will be looking for a victory on March 27 with the ultimate aim of advancing to the finals as group toppers.

The 24-team Asian Cup takes place across eight venues in the UAE from January 5 to February 1, 2019.
