Oman’s share index falls marginally

Muscat: The MSM30 Index closed the session at 5,000.48 points, down 0.14 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.16 per cent to end at 706.19 points. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Rallying 17.11 per cent, Galfar Engineering was the top gainer while Muscat Gases was the top loser, down 5.19 per cent.

A total number of 897 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating turnover of OMR3.28 million with 23.58 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 11 advanced, 14 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors remained net buyers for OMR255,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR91,000 while Foreign investors were net sellers for OMR346,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index retreated 0.13 per cent to finish at 7,390.28 points. Oman & Emirates, Gulf Investment Services, Oman United Insurance, Al Batinah Development and HSBC Bank increased 7.77 per cent, 2.25 per cent, 2.16 per cent, 1.19 per cent and 0.93 per cent respectively. Al Izz Bank, Al Madina Takaful, NBO, Bank Dhofar and Al Sharqia Investments declined 1.35 per cent, 1.08 per cent, 0.94 per cent, 0.94 per cent and 0.81 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index had sharp gain of 1.21 per cent to close at 6,847.87 points. Galfar Engineering, National Aluminium and Al Anwar Ceramics gained 17.11 per cent, 3.86 per cent and 0.77 per cent respectively. Gulf International Chemicals, down 1.75 per cent was the sole sector loser.



Services Index was relatively unchanged and closed at 2,650.48 points. National Gas, MCDC and Al Jazeera Services gained 1.28 per cent, 0.63 per cent and 0.60 per cent respectively. Muscat Gases, United Power, OIFC, Sohar Power and Omantel declined 5.19 per cent, 0.89 per cent, 0.76 per cent, 0.75 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively.
