Muscat: Oman's foreign affairs minister Yousuf Bin Alawi visited the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem on Thursday, as he concluded his visit to Palestine.
"Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, and his accompanying delegation on Thursday evening visited the city of Jerusalem within the framework of his current visit to Palestine," Oman's state news agency said.
"His visit included a tour of the Old City and Al-Aqsa Mosque and met with its residents."
"His Excellency listened to the efforts being made to facilitate the arrival of worshipers to perform prayers without obstacles from the Israeli occupation forces.
"He also paid a visit to the Church of the Nativity in Jerusalem and a tour of nearby squares. He was received by a number of Palestinian officials.
"The Foreign Minister expressed his great pleasure in visiting the historic city of Jerusalem, the blessed city of the Holy Land, expressing his satisfaction with the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in the face of the Israeli occupation," the statement added.
