Muscat: A workshop kicked off on Wednesday on the project of preparing a national plan to adapt with climate change and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 in the Sultanate of Oman.
The event has been organised by the Environment Authority in cooperation with Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Green Climate Fund.
The workshop aims to highlight the importance of consolidating a balance between the necessities of development and protecting climatic and ecosystems. This balance comes within the framework of comprehensive national strategic and action plans that take into consideration the improvement of economic and social aspects for the population.
Further, the event showcased Oman’s efforts in adapting with climate change and boosting sustainable development.
