Volleyball tournament will be held to mark International Women's Day

Muscat: As part of the International Women's Day, Joyalukkas Exchange, a leading money exchange in Oman is organising its 2nd season of the women's volleyball tournament. This will be held on March 10 at Bowshar Club.

The inaugural ceremony will be graced by Mary Antony Jos  Joyalukkas Group Director and Anjali Menon, Chief Business Officer, Instant Cash. The prize distribution ceremony will be graced by Sariya Al Hadiyah, Member of the State Council and Mumtaz Al Balushi, Director of Administration (OPAZ).

More than 250 female volleyball players of 20 clubs consisting of citizens and expats will participate in the tournament. Various embassy officials, Oman Volleyball Association players and other delegates will attend the event.

The winners will get attractive prizes including cash awards and many prizes will also given to spectators during the breaks of the competition. The enthusiastic response to the first season of the tournament last year has inspired the start of the second season in Oman.

Antony Jos, Managing Director,Joyalukkas Exchange, said: “The acceptance which we got in the first season inspired us to organise more events to emphasise gender equality and women empowerment. Joyalukkas Management aims to provide more opportunities to women and bring them to the mainstream.

Nixon Baby, Joyalukkas Exchange General Manager said that we are committed that more women should participate in all the programmes including the volleyball tournament held for that purpose. Among the expatriate community in Oman, there are many nationalities who cherish volleyball, but there are very few platforms where they can showcase their talent.

Ansar Shenthar, Operations Manager, Joyalukkas Exchange said that last year, the women's volleyball tournament was organised in Oman for the first time and the response was amazing and this year the tournament has become something that players and volleyball enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for. Many programmes have been organised in connection with the International Women's Day at Joyalukkas Exchange branches across the Sultanate.

In the first season, Slashers Oman were the winners and Muscat Blazers were the first runners-up.
