Three SMEs awarded support agreements as part of SME development programme

Muscat: To support and promote entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as one of the core elements of Oxy Oman's In-Country Value (ICV) Strategy, three SMEs were awarded support agreements as part of Phase 5 Tasharuk programme, focusing on solar energy services.

The recipients of the solar hybrid power system for wells and support agreements were: Continental Shelf of Solar Tech (CSOST), Green Universe Enterprise (GUE) and Rimal Global Technical Services.

The Tasharuk programme was established in 2013, and each phase has awarded support agreements to the selected SMEs to enhance their development in various fields and support capacity building of Omani-owned SMEs that demonstrate high potential for ICV and create jobs for Omanis.

Phase 5 of the programme was launched in 2019, inviting Omani SMEs to apply to the programme following set criteria.
The ceremony concluding Phase 5 of the Tasharuk programme was held at Oxy Oman headquarters in Muscat, under the patronage of Mohsin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals.

Steven Lauver, President and General Manager of Oxy Oman, attended along with the representatives of the three awarded companies: Majid Al Alawi, General Manager of Continental Shelf of Solar Tech; Nasser Al Rawahi, General Manager of Green Universe Enterprise; and Salim Al- Jassasi, General Manager of Rimal Global Technical Services.

Abdulkarim Al Ghassani, Vice President of Supply Chain at Oxy Oman, and other senior executives of the company were present at the ceremony.

“We are proud to successfully conclude Phase 5 Tahsaruk programme, as the program has seen steady growth since its inception in 2013,” said Lauver. “As Phase 5 is completed, we are hopeful that the program will encourage a pursuit of excellence in SME development, such that the awarded SMEs will be able to compete locally and internationally, as well as serve as essential sources for economic growth and job creation in the country.”

This programme continues Oxy Oman’s response to the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to support the production of Omani goods and services locally, as well as the sustainable employment of Omani nationals. In addition to increasing the diversification of the economy, the program reaffirms Oxy Oman’s wide-ranging commitment to developing a competitive Omani supply chain.

This programme falls under Oxy Oman’s umbrella of strategic partnerships and continuous collaboration with key stakeholders and is part of Oxy Oman’s endeavour and long-term commitment to support programs that enhance economic growth and sustainable development and that yield positive impacts in the neighbouring communities.
