Muscat : According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), Indian travellers top the list of passengers who used the Muscat International Airport most frequently. According to the report, more than 147,000 Indian travellers flew via Muscat Airport by the end of December 2022.
The number of incoming and outgoing international flights through Muscat, Salalah and Sohar airports have increased by 128 percent and hit a mark of 65,220 flights by the end of December 2022. It was 28,580 flights for the same period in 2021.
The number of arrivals through the airports of the Sultanate of Oman increased significantly by 133 percent. The number of departures also increased by 109 percent until the end of last December. The total number of arriving, departing and “transit” passengers at the airports of Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and Duqm reached a count of 9,876,762 until the end of December 2022.
Incoming and outgoing international and domestic flights through Muscat International Airport increased by 107 percent, to reach 68,737 flights, carrying 8,602,791 passengers.
Salalah Airport recorded a significant increase in the number of international and domestic flights by 71 percent, as the number of flights through the airport reached 8,672 carrying 1,128,024 passengers.
As for the number of international and domestic flights departing and arriving from Sohar Airport, it amounted to 813 flights until the end of December 2022 , transporting 78,482 passengers. While Duqm Airport recorded 650 incoming and outgoing domestic flights, and transported 67,465 passengers until the end of 2022 .
In number of footfall, Indian passengers are followed by Bangladeshi nationals with a total of 53,130 passengers and then Pakistani nationals with a total of 39,853 passengers.
