MSX index ends higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,659.22 points, up by 0.19 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.16 per cent at 478.72 points.

Voltamp Energy, up 9.43 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman National Engineering, down 3.36 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Madina Takaful were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Telecom were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 321 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.47 million, with more than 10.54 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 15 advanced, 13 declined, and 10 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR189,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR175,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR14,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 7,517.31 points, down 0.16 per cent. Prices of Oman United Insurance, Bank Nizwa, Al Madina Takaful and National Finance were up by 8.55 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.11 per cent and 0.72 per cent respectively. Prices of Global Financial Investments, Muscat Finance, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Al Anwar Investment and Ominvest were up by 1.72 per cent, 1.70 per cent, 1.46 per cent, 1.25 per cent and 0.95 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,869.95 points, up 0.08 per cent. Prices of Voltamp Energy and Jazeera Steel Products were up by 9.43 per cent and 1.61 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Maha Ceramics and Galfar Engineering were up by 2.38 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.9 per cent before closing at 1,706.50 points. Prices of Al Suwadi Power, SMN Power Holding, OIFC, Al Maha Marketing and Muscat Desalination were up by 9.38 per cent, 7.41 per cent, 6.56 per cent, 3.29 per cent and 2.06 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman National Engineering, Al Batinah Power, Sembcorp Salalah and National Gas were up by 3.36 per cent, 3.03 per cent, 2.53 per cent and 1.92 per cent respectively.
