Muscat: The Muttrah cable car project is going to become a reality soon, said a member of the Municipal Council of the Wilayat of Muttrah in the Muscat Governorate. The project, along the Muttrah Corniche, is expected to become a big draw for tourists.
Speaking Exclusively to Times of Oman, Hamad Al Wahaibi, a member of the Municipal Council of the Wilayat of Muttrah, confirmed that the cable car project will be implemented this year. We are awaiting the permits from the Muscat Municipality and once it is cleared, the vital tourism project will be implemented soon.”
Al Wahaibi said that the departure point of the cable car project will be at the fish market stands at the Corniche in the Wilayat of Muttrah.
The middle point will be in front of Al-Riyam Park, which will also work as a stopover where riders can take rest and have drinks such as coffee/tea/juices while the end point will be in Kalbouh Park.”
He said that the shape of this cable car project will be like the letter V for a distance of around 5 km and the cost will be about OMR4-6 OMR per person.
Hamad Al Wahaibi confirmed that the number of cable cars will be 34 and this project will be implemented by an Omani company in partnership with a foreign company.
When asked about the starting date, the member of the municipal council said that definitely this year, adding that the procedures are being completed for approval by the Muscat Municipality.
