English Premier League leaders Arsenal slip again against Brentford

London: Mikel Arteta's Arsenal now haven't won any of their last three games across all competitions, and the Gunners' lead at the top of the English Premier League (EPL) table could be cut to three points by the end of the weekend. They stumbled to a 1-1 draw at home to Brentford.

Now they await Manchester City's game against Aston Villa tonight to see how their lead will look, though the weekend will end with Arsenal having a game in hand over the reigning champions.

Although City are facing their share of off-field issues, things are starting to look a to better for them in this season's title race as Arsenal are going through their toughest patch of form so far this season.

January signing Leandro Trossard's first goal for the Gunners looked to be a hugely important one as he put them ahead shortly after the hour mark, showing why Arsenal signed him from Brighton in the winter transfer window.

The lead, though, couldn't be held and the side from the south coast fought back to level.

It was Ivan Toney who levelled for the Bees just eight minutes after Trossard had opened the scoring, again showing just how much of a threat Brentford can be to the EPL bigger teams either at home or away.

Arteta now faces a real test of his leadership as the Gunners are clearly enduring a tough time. They've now lost to both Everton and Man City, as well as drawing with Brentford, since their dramatic win over Manchester United on 22 January 2023.

They have no time to recover with Man City visiting the Emirates Stadium on 15 February in what promises to be a thrilling battle between England's top two sides this season.
