Search operations for Omani fishermen lost at sea continues

Muscat: The search operations are still ongoing for the two Omani fishermen who were lost at sea while they were on a fishing trip east of Niyabat Al-Ashkhara in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah.

"The Royal Air Force of Oman, with its marine reconnaissance aircraft, and the Royal Navy of Oman, with its ships, are continuing search and rescue operations for missing citizens at sea while they were on a fishing trip east of Niyabat Al-Ashkhara in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah . Air and sea search operations are still going on in various directions," the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement.

 MoD added that this comes within the framework of national efforts, humanitarian roles, and search and rescue services provided by the Sultan's Armed Forces and other departments of the Ministry of Defense to citizens and residents of this dear country.

According to the Association, the Oman Fishermen Association has been continuing the search for the missing Al-Ashkhara since yesterday evening. Coordination has been made with the competent authorities and volunteers in the research.There are currently more than seven artisanal fishing vessels and more than 14 flat boats in the search area.‎

On February 8, 2023 two Omani youths went missing while they were on a fishing trip in the eastern coasts of the Sultanate of Oman.
