Muscat: Royal Oman Police have released this video of a car crash test at 60 km/h, in an effort to get people to wear their seatbelts while driving in the Sultanate — especially passengers in the back seat.
In the video, two crash test dummies in a car — with no seatbelts around them — are seen thrown forward after crashing into a wall at 60 km/h. The one in the driver's seat is thrust into the airbag that's deployed, while the one in the passenger seat behind is thrust head first into the driver's seat.
While both are badly damaged, it's apparent from the video that if a real person was in either of the dummies' places, they'd have had ended up with serious injuries.
Oman's police force tweeted the video with a warning to users to drivers — and passengers in the rear seats — to wear their seatbelts, as they reduce the risk of injury and death.
