Oman, UAE conduct legislative talks in Abu Dhabi

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), held an official session of legislative talks in Abu Dhabi today.

The Sultanate of Oman was represented in the session by His Excellency Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma'awali, Speaker of the Shura Council. The UAE was represented by His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, Chairman of the Federal National Council.

During the session, a number of issues of common concern were discussed, and support for priority issues were provided during participation in international parliamentary forums, in a way that serves Gulf, Arab and Islamic issues, in addition to reviewing the mechanism of the Shura Council and its oversight and legislative role through its specialized committees, as well as the diplomacy it practices through joint parliamentary friendship committees with brotherly and friendly countries.

During the session, His Excellency Khalid bin Hilal Al-Ma’awali, Speaker of the Shura Council, praised the strength of the well-established fraternal relations between Oman and the sisterly state of the UAE, which were consolidated over decades and culminated in the generous patronage of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates; What earned it the depth of embodying the consensus in the positions of the two brotherly countries regarding many issues in the region.

At the same time, His Excellency stressed the coordination and agreement between the two councils on all issues that will be raised during participation in upcoming events, in a way that achieves integration in the parliamentary diplomatic fields.

For his part, His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, Chairman of the Federal National Council, affirmed that the Emirati-Omani relations constitute a distinguished model for relations between the two countries, linked by historical bonds, customs, traditions, plans and a common destiny, which are strengthened and strengthened day after day by virtue of blood ties, inheritance, destiny, common interests, and compatible visions that the leaderships of the two countries are keen on, documented and translated into reality.

He also explained that these mutual visits between the two councils would achieve more cooperation, coordination and exchange of visions and experiences to support the march of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and improve the outputs of the periodic meeting of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
