Omani grandfather dies after hit-and-run accident in Sohar

Muscat: An Omani old-age pensioner died in a hospital after being struck during a hit-and-run road accident.
Ismail Mohammed Al Balushi, a grandfather, was knocked down while crossing the road near Sohar port.
The driver fled the scene after the accident.
Talking about the accident, Mohammed Al Balushi, the deceased’s grandson, said, “My grandfather died at around 1:30pm, and we were notified an hour later. We could not figure out what had happened. He had gone to pick up a family car that was being repaired.
“Workers who were in our house heard our screams and asked us what happened. My mother said the old man who served you tea died today.”
The grandfather didn’t die immediately at the site but at the hospital.
“He was taken to the hospital and he passed away there” added Mohammed.
The accident is under investigation, according to the Royal Oman Police.
