Muscat: The low pressure affecting the Sultanate of Oman that has brought rains to many parts of the country is likely to continue until Monday. Another low pressure is expected to affect Oman from Tuesday, an official from the Oman Meteorology said.
The Wilayat of Bukha in the Musandam Governorate recorded the highest amount of rain. Many regions in Oman received rains of various intensity leading to overflow of wadis as a result of low pressure that is active since Thursday evening, January 5, 2023.
This is the third depression this winter season and the first in 2023, according to an official from the Omani Meteorology at the Civil Aviation Authority, (CAA).
The Wilayat of Bukha in the Musandam Governorate recorded 93 mm of rain, followed by Khasab with 81 mm, Wilayats of Liwa, Shinas and Sohar in the Governorate of North Al Batinah, respectively got 62mm, 42mm, and 18mm of rains.
The lowest 3 mm of rain was recorded each in the wilayats of Seeb and Rustaq while the Wilayat of Al Musannah in the Governorate of South Al Batinah recorded 2 mm.
The official from the Oman meteorology confirmed exclusively to the Times of Oman that rain will continue in the governorates of Musandam, North and South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, North and South Sharqiyah and Muscat until Monday morning.
The official also confirmed that there is another weather condition expected to hit Oman from Tuesday, January 10, 2023, and it will last for two to three days. The governorates of Musandam, North and South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, North and South Sharqiyah and Muscat will be affected with chances of moderate to heavy rain.
