Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,831.15 points, up by 0.01 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.04 per cent at 498.68 points.
Oman Chlorine, up 10.00 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman United Insurance, down 4.84 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 639 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR6.01 million, with more than 22.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 48 traded securities, 16 advanced, 18 declined, and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR218,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR189,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR28,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,817.97 points, up 0.05 per cent. Prices of Oman & Emirates Investment, Global Financial Investments, United Finance, Al Omaniya Financial Services, and Ahli Bank were up by 2.70 per cent, 1.89 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.44 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman United Insurance, Oman Qatar Insurance, Muscat Finance, Al Anwar Investment, and Al Madina Takaful were down by 10.00 per cent, 4.52 per cent, 1.54 per cent, 1.18 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,316.16 points, down 0.45 per cent. Prices of Oman Chlorine and Galfar Engineering were up by 10.00 per cent and 3.01 per cent respectively. Prices of Raysut Cement, A'Saffa Foods, Dhofar Cattle Feed, Oman Cement, and Oman Fisheries were down by 4.82 per cent, 4.27 per cent, 4.00 per cent, 1.31 per cent and 0.97 per cent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.11 per cent before closing at 1,615.83 points. Prices of Dhofar Generating, Ooredoo, Oman National Engineering and OIFC were up by 9.80 per cent, 1.91 per cent, 1.82 per cent and 1.56 per cent respectively. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah, National Gas, Renaissance Services, Oman Telecom, and Al Jazeera Services were down by 2.99 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 1.28 per cent, 0.86 per cent and 0.35 per cent respectively.
