Muscat: Two more bodies were retrieved by the rescue teams from Falaj stream in the wilayat of Al Khabourah taking the death toll to four in the well collapse incident while the workers were carrying out the maintenance work.
The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority said: “Referring to the previous communication, and after search efforts in a Falaj stream in Sana’a Bani Ghafir area in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah, the rescue teams of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Department in North Al Batinah Governorate were able to retrieve two more bodies, bringing the number of killed people to four.”
Earlier, it as reported that two persons were killed when the wall of a well collapsed on the workers carrying out the maintenance work of a well in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah in North Al Batinah Governorate. Rescue teams are continuing their search operation to locate other missing persons.
In a statement, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA), said: “Rescue teams of the CDAA in North Al Batinah Governorate responded to a report of collapse of earth on workers while they were carrying out the maintenance work of a well in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah."
The CDAA has called on institutions, companies and individuals to follow safety procedures during the maintenance of wells and Falaj to avoid loss of lives.
