With winter setting in, it’s festivity all around

Muscat: Since the onset of winter, entertainment festivals have been launched in various governorates of the Sultanate. If you have not visited any of them yet, do not miss the opportunity to attend them in their last days before they close.

One of the most prominent festivals launched this year is the Sohar Festival in North Al Batinah, which in its first edition witnessed diverse activities and thousands of visitors since its launch on November 18. It will continue till December 18.

In Al-Dhahirah Governorate, on December 11, the Hamra Al-Dura’ Festival for Camels and Folklore was launched. In the Governorate of Muscat, the food festival and the Park City Centre Qurum festival continue, which ends on December 18.

In south Al Batinah  Governorate, various festive activities that were held at the Barcelo Al Musanna Resort and the Oman Horse and Equestrian Festival concluded recently.

The Horse and Camel Festival was held in Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, which was launched on December 11 under the auspices of the Minister of Heritage and Culture, where he said: “With great appreciation to everyone who contributed to organising the festival, the Ministry will support and upgrade the components in partnership with everyone, in order to honour the heritage and make tourist destinations.” The second round of the Endurance Challenge Race for cars was also held in Wilayat of Bidiya, and the masses are waiting for the third and fourth rounds in January and February, respectively. In the winter season, sand gate activities will be held in the wilayat, which will last until March 30, and the camel race, which will start on November 18 will continue till January 13.

In Al-Buraimi Governorate, on November 29, Al Buraimi winter activities were launched that included diverse activities, with a big screan broadcast of World Cup matches. Among the activities, an exhibition of a human being’s story was launched on December 6 in Al-Hillah Fort in Wilayat of Al Buraimi.

With the start of the World Cup in Qatar, the Salalah Festival for World Cup 2022 fans has begun in Dhofar Governorate, and preparations are continuing for the launch of the Empty Quarter Festival in its second season.

And in Al Wusta Governorate, the activities of Amd 22, which included 30 youth activities in the fields of culture, innovation, sustainability, entertainment, technology and sports, were held from November 25 to December 3.
