Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, took part in the extraordinary meeting of members of the GCC Agricultural Cooperation Committee.
Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, headed the Omani delegation at the meeting, held via video conferencing with the prime aim of discussing food security.
The meeting concluded with a number of proposals, including the endorsement of a permanent committee for food security to stem from the GCC Agricultural Cooperation Committee, as well as renaming the Agricultural Cooperation Committee as the “Agricultural Cooperation and Food Security Committee”.
The meeting discussed the formation of a high-level GCC working team that will comprise personnel of the public and private sectors, under the leadership of Saudi Arabia.
