Research Council declares research award winners

Muscat: The meeting of the winning researchers of the National Scientific Research Award, organised by The Research Council (TRC) started on Sunday under the patronage of Dr. Rawiya bint Saud Al Busaidiya, Minister of Higher Education at Sheraton Muscat Hotel.
The meeting included the announcement of the winners of the National Scientific Research Award.
They included eleven research projects of the best scientific research award published to researchers with a doctorate or equivalent (Consultant or senior Consultant for doctors only) along with the award of the best scientific research published
for young researchers (without a PhD).
Six research projects in the PhD category won the awards in the six sectors, in addition to five research projects in the category of young researchers.
The projects are divided into six research areas: 23 in the education and human resources sector, 9 in the ICT sector, 11 in the health and community service sector, 20 in the cultural and social sciences and basic sectors, 16 in the energy and industry sector and 20 in the environment and biological resources.
During the meeting, the best six research projects were awarded as part of the Student Research Programme Award, which was funded within six research sectors.
The forum included simultaneous specialised working sessions to present and discuss the research outputs in the six research sectors, in which the winning research and the completed research funded by TRC in each sector were presented.
The number of researches presented in six research sessions was 31 research projects.
The sessions aim at presenting the outputs of research related to each sector and the latest developments and trends in scientific research, as well as exchanging experiences among researchers, transferring knowledge and building research links to work in joint research projects.
The National Scientific Research Award aims at encouraging researchers to submit high quality research proposals that serve the various fields of development in the Sultanate.
It encourages researchers of all categories to continue their activities and research initiatives, as well as their role in spreading the culture of scientific research and raising the quality of research outputs in the Sultanate and increasing number of researches with national importance.
The forum included the launching of the platform (Ijad), an electronic platform for cooperation between the industrial sector and the academic and research sector in the Sultanate in the field of energy and the launching of the website of the Omani Scientific Library Sources.
