Muscat : Here is what is happening across the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

Four pacts signed to pave internal roads in Al Dhahirah Governorate

Four agreements were signed in the field of paving internal roads in Al Dhahirah Governorate, at a total cost of about OMR 2.5 million. 

The first agreement includes the implementation of paving internal roads in Ibri Industrial area , Houmania Industrial area and Tana'm Industrial area , with a total of 7.2 kilometers, while the second agreement provides for the paving of internal roads in the Wilayat of Ibri with a length of 4 kilometers. 

The third agreement includes paving the internal roads in the industrial area of ​​Yanqul with a length of 3 km. While the fourth agreement includes paving the road leading to Dot and Fada schools in the Wilayat of Dhank with a length of 800 meters.

The agreements were signed by His Excellency Najib bin Ali Al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, with the owners of companies and institutions specialised in the field of paving roads, which come within the framework of efforts to complete the internal road network in the various wilayats of Al Dhahirah Governorate.

His Excellency the Governor of Al Dhahirah indicated that the agreements aim to activate the investment and commercial movement in the governorate and enhance public services. These projects are selected according to the priority and need of each wilayat for developmental services to reach a balanced and comprehensive development in all wilayats and villages of the governorate.

The signing of the agreements reflects the efforts made by the office of the Governor of Al Dhahirah, which aim to strengthen the infrastructure of the vital and service areas in order to advance the various development sectors in the governorate, which contributes to the service of society and the citizen. 


Survey of lead concentrations in air implemented in city of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate 

The survey of lead concentrations in the air in the city of Salalah, which is implemented by the Directorate General of Environment in the Governorate of Dhofar. It is one of the important priority environmental projects, which is the expansion of the air quality monitoring network in urban and industrial areas and promoting the expansion of the monitoring system.

Mahmoud bin Saeed Nayrouz Souissi, project manager, said: The project comes as a continuation of the projects that the authority seeks to implement in order to preserve human health and the environment. It is considered a basic requirement at this stage in terms of the importance of providing data for monitoring the air quality surrounding the city of Salalah and keeping pace with the existing expansion of potentially polluting activities from industrial facilities and transportation exhaust of all kinds on land, sea and air in light of the frequent reports received by the authority from citizens and residents, where the authority is required to verify of them, validating them and comparing them with national and global standards.

Eng. Abdullah bin Muhammad Aidarous Sheikh Abu Bakr, the supervisor of the project implementation stages, said that through this project, we seek to find a kind of effective monitoring and control of air quality by providing fixed and mobile equipment and devices that can be placed in urban areas, supporting the plans and vision of the Environment Authority in a scientific manner and keeping pace with international and regional requirements in providing statistical data and creating readings for monitoring ambient air quality in target areas.

The supervisor of the project implementation phases added:" A timetable has been drawn up showing the time required to implement each step of the work and the location of the device’s installation in the Wilayat of Salalah. The devices to be installed in the targeted places were imported by specialists, after which the process of transferring the devices to the specialised laboratory to analyze and write the technical report on the observed results." 

"The survey project of lead concentrations in the air seeks to achieve a good indicator for the Sultanate of Oman in the global index "Environmental Performance Index", which is also one of the indicators of Oman Vision 2040, and thus it is one of the goals and priority of the environment and natural resources set by the Environment Authority as a main objective in the coming years, " Eng. Abdullah said. 

Rehabilitation and maintenance of fish market completed in Wilayat of Bidiyah? North Sharqiyah Governorate

The company executing the project to rehabilitate and maintain the fish market in the Wilayat of Bidiyah in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate has completed its construction work, in the project supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. It is hoped that the market, in which the cost of rehabilitation and maintenance works amounted to more than OMR 41,000 , will open in the coming days.

Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Hajri, a member of the Municipal Council, representing the Wilayat of Bidiyah, said: "The cost of rehabilitation and maintenance works in the market amounted to OMR 41,500. The building area is 480 square meters, and includes 20 tables for displaying and selling fish, in addition to 5 tables for cutting fish, an ice making room, in addition to a general store and public parking for market-goers." 

"The design of the market created special entrances to the process of landing fish that help sellers to facilitate the supply and preservation of fish, in addition to the presence of 3/ shops that provide the opportunity for investors to engage in activities that support market activities such as the activity of grilling fish and preparing them for events. " 

" The new market located in the village of Al-Ghabi will provide the citizens and residents with their actual needs of fish, which are expected to be widely available, given the strategic location of Bidiyah, close to fish transporters from the wilayats of South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta Governorates, " Al-Hajri added. 

 The new fish market in Bidiyah comes within the strategy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in building new fish markets with modern specifications that meet health requirements and quality control standards for fish products. It will contribute to the national economy by supporting small and medium enterprises and workers in the fish sales and marketing sector, in addition to opening new marketing outlets for the fish sector work system.

Outstanding students honoured in Al Wusta governorate

The Directorate General of Education in Al Wusta Governorate celebrated the honouring of 100 students who excelled in the governorate’s schools for the academic year 2021/2022, 16 of whom were in the general diploma.

The ceremony was sponsored by His Excellency Sheikh Mudhad bin Mohammed Al Yaqoubi, Governor of Al Wusta, in the presence of Their Excellencies the Walis, members of the Shura and Municipal Council and officials of government and military institutions in the governorate, with the support of Occidental Oman Company. 

In his speech, Hamed Al-Mashikhi, Assistant Director-General for Education Affairs, said: "We proudly congratulate the students for this honor, and we invite them to continue and strive to achieve excellence and levels that deserve praise and crowning." 

The sponsor of the ceremony honored the outstanding students with their parents for their efforts in following up their children in achieving this excellence.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, two agreements were signed between the Directorate General of Education in Al Wusta Governorate and Occidental Oman Company to establish triple playgrounds in a number of schools in the governorate.The second agreement signed to support and funding the induction classes at Abu Mudhabi and Al Maaref schools for basic education.
