1. HH Sayyid Asa’ad visits Great Mosque of Algiers
HH Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan visited the Great Mosque of Algiers.
This came within the context of HH Sayyid Asa’ad heading Oman’s delegation at the 31st Arab Summit which concluded on Wednesday.
HH Sayyid Asa’ad was greeted upon his arrival at the mosque by Mohammed Maamoun Al Kacimi, Head of the Great Mosque of Algiers.
Al Kacimi underscored the advanced cultural relations binding the Sultanate of Oman and Algeria. He pointed out that Oman is a model of religious tolerance.
Moreover, HH Sayyid Asa’ad also visited the “Maqam Al Saheed” or “Martyr’s Memorial” and the National Museum of Moudjahid.
2. Khasab Port receives first cruise ship of the season
The German cruise ship Mein Schiff 6 with 2230 tourists has become the first cruise ship to reach Khasab Port marking the start of the tourism season 2022-23.
Tourists of different nationalities on board coming from Dubai, will be visiting various tourist areas in Musandam. They were welcomed at a reception organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism.
The Governorate of Musandam offers its visitors many tourism options. The tourist can choose what suits him, from recreational programmes organised by tourism companies in Khasab, cruises, city tours represented, to the fortress of Bukha and safari trips at Jebel Harim.
3. Oman welcomes peace agreement reached between Ethiopia, Tigray
The Sultanate of Oman’s Foreign Ministry has expressed it’s appreciation to the agreement reached between the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Tigray People's Liberation Front to stop hostilities.
The Ministry expressed its appreciation for the efforts made by the Republic of South Africa and the African Union in sponsoring the negotiations, and its hope that this would contribute to achieving a lasting peace that fulfills the aspirations of the Ethiopian people for security and stability.
4. Ministry of Heritage and Tourism organises Cross Country Race
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, represented by the Department of Heritage and Tourism in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, organised today a cross-country race in the Samad Al Shaan in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi, as part of the third stop of the winter sports races.
The Heritage and Tourism Department in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate in cooperation with private sector institutions, is organising a number of sports races in various states of the governorate, which varies between mountain running, sand running, cross-country races, in addition to bicycle races and challenge races. The races will last until November 25, 2022.
For the professional category, the race started for a distance of 10 km from Al-Akhdar village to the ancient fortress of Bait Al-Khubaib. Captain Ali Al Habsi, who attended the occasion, honored the winners of the first three places for each category.
