7 kg of marijuana, 10 boxes of khat seized in ROP drug bust

Muscat: A traveller was caught while trying to smuggle 7 kilograms of marijuana into Oman at Muscat International Airport, according to Royal Oman Police (ROP).
The smuggler, of Asian nationality, was arrested with nine bags full of marijuana and sent to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.
Another three people of Arab nationality were arrested by the ROP with 10 boxes of khat in their possession.
"The Coast Guard in Dhofar managed to seize a boat loaded with khat in Omani territorial waters near Mirbat," ROP announced online.
The police has called on citizens and expats to cooperate in battling drug trafficking, and to alert the police about information and tips regarding drug traffickers.
