12 empowerment projects launched in Omani Women's Associations in the governorates of South and North Al Sharqiyah
The Ministry of Social Development has launched 12 empowerment projects in Omani Women's Associations in the governorates of South and North Al Sharqiyah, funded by the Oman India Fertiliser Company (OMIFCO).
The projects included sewing and embroidery workshops, gymnasiums, graphic design, electronic production, textile manufacturing, the Omani Dar bakery project, and women’s training kitchen equipment.
The inauguration ceremony, which was held in the Wilayat of Sur, was sponsored by Her Excellency Dr Laila bint Ahmed Al Najar, Minister of Social Development, in the presence of His Excellency Dr Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Mashari Al Shamsi, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah, and Their Excellencies the Walis, Heads of Social Development Committees, and a number of officials.
In his speech, Hasib bin Zahran Al-Omari, Director General of the General Directorate of Social Development in the governorates of South and North Al Sharqiya, said that the Omani women's associations in the Wilayat of Sur, the Wilayat of Al-Qabil, the Wilayat of Dima Wattayeen were provided with a sewing and embroidery workshop with all the equipment and the Omani women's associations in the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid, the Wilayat of Al-Kamil and Al-Wafi, the Wilayat of Masirah, the Wilayat of Ibra and the Wilayat of Al-Mudhaibi received all the equipment for women's gym projects. The Omani Women Association in Bidiya got the graphic design and electronic production project.
The Omani Women Association in Ja'alan Bani Bu Ali won the Omani House Bakery project for the manufacture of Omani pastries with all the equipment and the Omani Women Association in Ja’alan Bani Buhassan chose their heritage project in the textile industry with all its modern equipment. The Omani Women’s Association, in Tiwi branch, equipped a training kitchen for women.
The inauguration ceremony included honouring a number of glorified women in the wilayats of the South and North Al Sharqiyah governorates.
The plan of the Ministry of Social Development reviewed in the South Sharqiyah Governorate
The Ministry of Social Development discussed a number of social issues and ways to enhance cooperation and integration between government, private and civil agencies in order to improve the services provided to their beneficiaries.
This came during the visit of Dr Laila bint Ahmed Al Najar, Minister of Social Development for the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah, where she met with Dr Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiya, and their Excellencies the walis of the governorate and a number of charitable teams leaders.
The meeting reviewed the plan of the Ministry of Social Development and the programmes approved in the 10th five-year plan of Oman Vision 2040, which are represented in four priorities: the governance of the state’s administrative apparatus, resources and projects, the priority of welfare and social protection, the priority of education, learning and scientific research, national capacities, and buildings and construction projects.
The meeting also discussed a number of construction projects in the governorate, including the Al-Wafa Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, the Autism Centre in the Wilayat of Sur, the Al-Wafa Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in the Wilayat of Masirah, the Autism Unit operated by the Association for the Care of Children with Disabilities in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Hassan, and the operation of the Al-Wafa Centre in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali, in addition to discussing topics related to the work of Omani women associations and charitable teams and their vital role in contributing to the development of society.
