Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,417.50 points, down by 0.8 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.87 per cent at 475.84 points. Sembcorp Salalah, up 9.43 per cent, was the top gainer while Vision Insurance, down 9.48 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of United Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 317 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.44 million, with more than 15.84 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded securities, 4 advanced, 27 declined, and 9 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR80,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR51,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR29,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 7,044.42 points, down 0.85 per cent. Prices of Bank Nizwa, was up by 1.05 per cent. Prices of Vision Insurance, United Finance, Muscat Finance, Al Batinah Development Company and Global Financial Investments were down by 0.69 per cent, 9.33 per cent, 6.78 per cent, 6.67 per cent and 5.77 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,038.02 points, down 0.39 per cent. Prices of Raysut Cement was up by 0.69 per cent. Prices of National Aluminium, Voltamp Energy, Oman Cables Industry, Gulf Mushroom Products, and Jazeera Steel Products were down by 3.75 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 1.27 per cent and 0.91 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 0.45 per cent before closing at 1,556.64 points. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah and Phoenix Power were up by 9.43 per cent, 2.33 per cent, respectively. Prices of Al Suwadi Power, National Gas, Renaissance Services, Al Jazeera Services, and Ooredoo were down by 5.13 per cent, 2.66 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 2.08 per cent and 1.92 per cent respectively.
