Muscat: MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab announced that the Sultanate will host the closing ceremony of the MIT Arab Startup Competition in its 11th edition on April 19, 2018.
This came during a press conference held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on the sidelines of the “Ebdaat Omania 5” exhibition, which opened on Tuesday with the participation of 200 small and medium enterprises spread across all sectors of the economy, service and crafts and continue for 5 days.
This year’s Forum competition comes in partnership with Community Jamil, the social institution that runs many initiatives to bring about positive change in society and achieve economic sustainability.
The current version of the forum witnessed significant participation of other partners from the Sultanate.
Omantel is a strategic partner of the MIT Forum, the Public Authority for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises ‘Riyada’ and the Oman Technology Fund, which focuses on investing in emerging institutions and innovative ideas in the IT sector in the Sultanate and the region. The MIT Arab Startup Competition was open to applicants from September 3 to December 5 through its website, with the names of the winning teams being announced in the semi-finals in January 2018, who will compete for prizes of up to US $160,000.
