Muscat: His Excellency John Kerry, Representative of the US President for Climate Affairs, lauds Royal attention of HM the Sultan to improve environment performance and alleviate climate change impacts, as he approved the year 2050 the date for achieving zero carbon neutrality.
On October 11, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik presided over a meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al Barakah Palace, in the meeting, he gave directives to all units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus to cooperate to ensure the success of the national plan to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050.
His Majesty also gave directives to set up the Oman Sustainability Centre, to undertake the supervision and follow up of zero carbon emission plans and programmes to improve environmental performance and alleviate the impact of climate change.
