Muscat: A resident was arrested and a firearm seized after shots were fired at an Omani wedding, leaving three people injured.
Three guests at the wedding, held in Al Sudairah, Sinaw, were taken to hospital for treatment after the shooting, Royal Oman Police confirmed.
In an online statement, Royal Oman Police said: "The information spreading on social media about a shooting incident at a wedding ceremony in Sinaw district in Al Sudairah town, confirmed by ROP.
"The incident resulted in the injury of three people with moderate injuries who were taken to Sinaw Hospital for treatment. The wedding was held yesterday evening. The case is still under investigation.
"The person who fired the gun was arrested and the weapon was taken away," an official from ROP added.
The laws of the Sultanate prohibit the use of firearms whether in celebrations or otherwise.
