Muscat: Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion hopes the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of Jordan to the Sultanate of Oman would contribute to increase in trade and further develop investment and cooperation in various spheres between the two countries.
He said the relations between the two countries has received due attention and care of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Jordan’s King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein. He said the relations between the two countries has witnessed continued and sustainable development in various fields.
He said the Joint Omani-Jordanian Committee is exploring the mechanisms for boosting economic, trade and investment cooperation and other fields of cooperation between the two countries.
He also pointed out that economic cooperation has contributed to increase in the volume of trade in various sectors between the two countries. The two countries enjoy investment opportunities and incentives that boost exchange of trade and increase in investments in various fields, he said.
He said the exchange of trade between the two countries increased by 33.8 % during 2021 to reach OMR61.855 million against OMR46.236 million in 2020. The number of Jordanian trading companies in the Sultanate reached 621 spanning various sectors, including commerce, services, industry and construction.
