Oman basketball: BGO upset Alpha in Filipino Muscat Ballers Basketball Tournament

Muscat: BGO launched their campaign in the Filipino Muscat Ballers Basketball Tournament with upset win over defending champions Alpha Movement Specialist.
In a keenly-contested match played at the Oman Club in Al Khuwair, BGO handed Alpha a 80-74 defeat.
Mark Viado led a balanced BGO attack by scoring a game high 20 points while last year’s Most Improved Player Austin Parole chipped in with 15 points.
Sensational swingman Jayr Tejano added to the BGO tally with 15 points.
Ronnie Hernando and Karl Lorion led the scoring for Alpha with 16 and 12 points respectively.
The first quarter saw Alpha lead the game by a slim margin of 16 points against BGO’s 13. The second quarter turned out to be a different story, with BGO gathering their composure to scatter a 34-16 scoring run which saw them take a 15-point lead into half-time.
Alpha Movement Specialist tried to rally in the third quarter by going on a 20-15 run of their own to close the gap. With BGO superstar Mark Viado plagued with foul trouble, JM Cruz, Gil Gepiga, Regie Leano and Luel Guloy took charge in the fourth quarter to steady the team and hold off the Alpha Team for good.
