Z-Corp launches sixth module of ELDP

Muscat: Reaching yet another major milestone, the Zubair Corporation (Z-Corp) launched the sixth module of the Executive Leadership Development Programme (ELDP).
The sixth module focused on ‘Strategic Project Management and Managing Stakeholders’ and was led by Prof Marc Karschies, a PMP certified professional with international experience in customer service and who has a track record of managing large-scale services culture transformation initiatives.
Designed to help employees with workforce succession planning, ELDP is an initiative aimed at developing high calibre employees of Z-Corp as part of the group’s talent management programme initiative SEED. Through this programme, which is only common among the best corporations in the world, Z-Corp has set a new standard for corporate leadership development in the Sultanate. The ELDP is a holistic, rotational three years programme designed to equip participants with hands-on experience in different key roles across Z-Corp. The ELDP consists of several modules, covering a broad aspect of leadership subjects including, strategy, innovation, leadership, risk management and corporate social responsibility.
Speaking about the session, Prof Karschies said, “I really enjoy working with such a dynamic group of individuals.” Prof Karschies is a Six Sigma Black Belt certified, a professor and executive trainer at HULT International Business School, and Lecturer on Project Management & innovation at Middlesex Universities, and an assessor at the prestigious Dubai Quality Award.
The module covered five consecutive days workshop during which participants reviewed the essential project management skills and techniques required for successful projects and discovered how they relate to the main practices of the PMP certification. The workshop also focused on project management, which is the process of planning, organising and managing resources to achieve the organisational objective.
The course followed the structure of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), its process groups, processes and knowledge areas, and how they all interconnect. At the end of the course, the participants were ready to take the certification exam of the PMP.
During the workshop, the participants were provided with the essential tools to improve confidence and performance at their workplace, through the effective use of business negotiation and influencing skills practised in the Middle East and around the world. The session covered the structure of the negotiating process, giving talents the effective negotiation strategies and skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive and dynamic business scenarios.
ELDP is an initiative designed in-house by the Z-Corp team and delivered in partnership with ShiftIN Partners; an internationally recognised consulting and training firm specialised in strategy execution and innovation, with a strong focus on capability building.
ELDP, the first of its kind in Oman, was held particularly in line with government strategy and intention to promote Omanis to a high management position in private sector organisations. The main aim of the programme was to elevate the capability of existing resources and prepare them for a future leadership position.
