Muscat: Passengers on Jet Airways flights to India from Muscat can carry televisions up to a maximum size of 48 inches free of charge, the airline has announced.
Confirming the decision, a travel agent in Muscat said that the television set should be in its original packaging to be considered part of their free baggage allowance.
“This will be effective for travel from November 1, 2017, until further notice. Anything in excess of free baggage allowance will attract charges,” the travel agent said, citing the notice.
According to the Jet Airways website, the current fee for televisions of 1.02 metres (102 cms / 40 inches) and above is OMR 20 and For flights departing from Gulf airports on Boeing 737 aircraft, the maximum acceptable size for LCD / LED TV is 1.22 metres (122 cms / 48 inches).
Besides carrying televisions up to a maximum size of 48 inches free of charge, the airline is offering 40 kilogramme of free baggage allowance for all guests till December 10, 2017.
Jet Airways operates flights to 64 destinations, including India, South East Asia, South Asia, Middle East, Europe and North America.
The Jet Airways Group currently operates a fleet of 113 aircraft, comprising of Boeing 777-300 ERs, Airbus A330-200/300, Next Generation Boeing 737s and ATR 72-500/600s.
