Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif held an official talks session at His Highness' Amiri Diwan office on Wednesday morning.
At the beginning of the session, HH the Amir welcomed HE the Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay in Qatar.
HH the Amir stressed the importance of the brotherly and strategic relations between the two countries and their aspiration to enhance economic partnership by raising trade exchange and promoting investments through the Qatar Investment Authority.
In this regard, the Qatar Investment Authority announced its aspiration to invest USD 3 billion in the various commercial and investment sectors in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
For his part, H.E. the Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his thanks to H.H. the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, expressing keenness to strengthen cooperation relations between the two countries to achieve common aspirations and develop them to broader horizons and multiple fields.
During the session, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to support and develop them in the fields of defense, economy, investment, trade exchange, energy, and sports, in addition to discussing the most prominent regional and international developments of common interest, especially the efforts made by the two countries to combat terrorism.
The session was attended by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, and HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi.
The session was attended on the Pakistani side by HE Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, HE Minister of Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail, HE Minister of Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, HE Minister of State for Petroleum Musadik Masood Malik, HE Minister of Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, HE Minister of Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar, HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, and a number of members of the official delegation.
HH the Amir hosted a lunch banquet in honor of the Pakistani Prime minister and the accompanying delegation.
HE the Pakistani Prime Minister had earlier arrived at the Amiri Diwan, where he was accorded an official reception ceremony.
