MSX index ends lower

MSX index ends lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,298.91 points, down by 0.43 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.26 per cent at 456.97 points.

Galfar Engineering, up 3.39 per cent, was the top gainer while Salalah Mills, down 9.27 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Ooredoo were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 415 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.65 million, with more than 9.23 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 6 advanced, 18 declined, and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR540,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR520,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR20,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,824.38 points, down 0.33 per cent. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Al Madina Takaful, Taageer Finance and Bank Nizwa were up by 1.35 per cent, 1.12 per cent, 1.06 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively. Prices of Vision Insurance, National Bank Oman, Oman United Insurance, Oman & Emirates Investment and Al Sharqia Investment were down by 9.09 per cent, 3.33 per cent, 3.07 per cent, 2.5 per cent and 2.5 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,610.35 points, down 1.05 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the only gainer today up by 3.39 per cent. Prices of Salalah Mills, National Aluminium, Jazeera Steel Products, Gulf Mushroom Products and Oman Cement were down by 9.27 per cent, 3.75 per cent, 3.13 per cent, 1.82 per cent and 1.15 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.35 per cent before closing at 1,622.16 points. Al Maha Marketing was the only gainer today up by 0.56 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Suwadi Power, Al Jazeera Services, Ooredoo, Oman National Engineering and Barka Desalination were down by 2.08 per cent, 1.79 per cent, 1.63 per cent, 0.94 per cent and 0.71 per cent respectively.
