MSX index ends higher

MSX index ends higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,317.6 points, up by 0.61 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.2 per cent at 458.15 points.

Bank Dhofar, up 8.48 per cent, was the top gainer while Jazeera Steel Products, down 5.33 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Nizwa were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Telecom were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 437 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.97 million, with more than 19.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 10 advanced, 15 declined, and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR101,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR100,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR2,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,846.89 points, up 0.23 per cent. Prices of Bank Dhofar, Ominvest and Ahlia Insurance were up by 8.48 per cent, 1.3 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively. Prices of United Finance, HSBC Bank Oman, Global Financial Investments, Muscat Finance and Al Madina Takaful were down by 5.26 per cent, 4.41 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 5,669.88 points, down 0.66 per cent. Prices of National Aluminium and Oman Cement were up by 2.56 per cent and 1.56 per cent respectively. Prices of Jazeera Steel Products, Raysut Cement, Oman Fisheries, Gulf Mushroom Products and Al Maha Ceramics were down by 5.33 per cent, 1.94 per cent, 1.84 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 1.22 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.47 per cent before closing at 1627.92 points. Prices of Shell Oman Marketing, OIFC, Oman Telecom, Al Jazeera Services and Ooredoo were up by 4.29 per cent, 2.36 per cent, 1.3 per cent, 0.72 per cent, and 0.55 per cent respectively. Prices of Muscat Gases, National Gas, Muscat Desalination, Renaissance Services and Oman National Engineering were down by 4.58 per cent, 2.9 per cent, 1.77 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 0.94 per cent respectively.
