Oman Athletics: Black wins first race of Muscat Road Runners Winter Series

Muscat: Competition was tough and so were the conditions. But Edward Black kept his focus and maintained his composure to win the first race of the Muscat Road Runners (MRR) Avis Winter Series orgnised at the PDO recently.
The 7.5km first race of the series, which is being sponsored by Avis, attracted as many as 76 runners.
Edward Black emerged the overall winners in a time of 30:12 and the second place went to Jerome Duboe who clocked 31:35.
Hamed Al Mahrooqi, meanwhile, settled for the third place in a time of 32:43.
Birgit Schulz was the first female and sixth overall in a time of 34:05.
The winner of the Junior 3k race was James in a time of 16:49 with Lucy and Mia coming in for the second place together in 17:59.
While thanking sponsors Avis for supporting the event, the MRR also lauded the efforts of race directors and the volunteers for their support in organising a successful competition.
The second race of the series is scheduled for October 21.
