Muscat: Students from National College of Automotive Technology have invented a prototype vehicle safety system comprising an air pressure built-in socket enabled to control tyre and engine operation when a safety issue arises.
A student from the 4-member team, Mohammed Habib Al Ajmi, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that an electronic simulator is fitted underneath the vehicle to prevent its collision in certain circumstances.
Al Ajmi added that another advantage of the model is the fact that its safety system automatically stops the engine running, once the fuel tank is opened at a filling station, to avoid a fire incident.
Al Ajmi pointed out that the project gains the support of the College and that the team hopes to develop an unmanned hi-tech local car that operates with remote sensors.
