Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,118.76 points, up by 0.09 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.74 per cent at 451.3 points.
Renaissance Services, up 3.37 per cent, was the top gainer while, Oman Chromite, down 9.89 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Oman United Insurance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 337 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.17 million, with more than 8.13 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded securities, 8 advanced, 21 declined, and 10 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR19,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR5,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR13,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,642.17 points, down 0.15 per cent. Prices of Sohar International Bank, Takaful Oman, Ominvest, Al Sharqia Investment and National Bank Oman were up by 2.97 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 1.21 per cent and 0.96 per cent respectively. Prices of Al Anwar Investment, Ahli Bank, Muscat Finance, Oman & Emirates Investment and Al Madina Takaful were down by 6.02 per cent, 3.28 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.18 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 5,767.03 points, down 0.17 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the only gainer today up by 2.94 per cent. Prices of Oman Chromite, National Aluminium, Construction Materials, Oman Fisheries and Raysut Cement were down by 9.89 per cent, 4.76 per cent, 3.75 per cent, 3.7 per cent and 2.6 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 0.22 per cent before closing at 1,553.62 points. Prices of Renaissance Services and Ooredoo were up by 3.37 per cent and 0.63 per cent respectively. Prices of OIFC, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Oman National Engineering and Al Jazeera Services were down by 4 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.91 per cent and 1.48 per cent respectively.
