Rescued green sea turtle returned to sea

Muscat: A green sea turtle, an endangered species, was rescued, treated and returned to the sea by a team from the Environment Authority.

The turtle was treated at the Oman Aquarium. The Authority said in a statement: “In conjunction with the celebration of World Oceans Day, the Environment Authority returns a green sea turtle to the sea. Action was taken after receiving a report that there is a weak turtle which was unable to move. It received treatment and care by specialists at the Oman Aquarium.”

The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), also known as the green turtle, black (sea) turtle or Pacific green turtle, is a species of large sea turtle of the family Cheloniidae. It is the only species in the genus Chelonia.
