Muscat: The next time you go up to Jabal Akhdar, be sure to check out the mountain’s latest attraction: Oman’s first adventure park.
Located in the premises of the DusitD2 Naseem Resort, up in the green mountain, the park has been open for about two weeks now, and offers a thrilling yet challenging environment to adults and children alike, said Gerhard Stutz, the resort’s general manager.
“The adventure park is not built at the end, or to the left or right of the resort: It is right in the middle. So when you come here, and go through the lobby, you can see it right away,” he said. “We are very proud to have the first adventure park in the Sultanate of Oman.”
“We are glad that we have opened the adventure park now for two weeks, while we had our soft opening of the hotel in July last year,” he added. “Safety and security is very important, but it now gives an opportunity to children of a younger age, all the way up to adults – there is no age limit to enjoy the park. It has a climbing wall, different obstacle courses and at the end, a long zipline, which goes from the adventure park throughout the resort.”
Stutz was speaking about the adventure park during an interview with T TV, the TV partner of Times of Oman, during which he spoke about the successes DusitD2 Naseem has achieved since it opened less than a year ago. The park has also received TUV certification, which means it meets stringent global safety requirements.
The property is – at the time of writing – ranked among the top five hotels in Oman on TripAdvisor, and Stutz said this is because of the experiences guests can enjoy when they go up the resort.
He explained: “It is all about the experience and services provided to your customer: It starts with the reservation, from getting to the resort, the welcome of the staff and the journey of the guests staying at our hotel. We provide guests a very special experience: Already, prior to your arrival, we give you the opportunity to tell us what your visit is all about.
“You may come with your family and have a relaxed weekend, you may enjoy the spa, enjoy the pool, our therapists are trained in other activities, such as Tai Chi,” he added.
“If you want to have a culinary experience, then we can do this for you: We can have cooking classes or baking classes for the children, our new thing is dining in the dark, where we blindfold you and you taste items and, in the end, you tell us what you have eaten.
“We truly practice localisation: You come to Jabal Akhdar, you want to have iftar with a local Omani family, we can organise this for you,” Stutz went on to say. “We have village walks, walks through wadis…with whatever is available up in the mountain, we can make your visit unique, and tailor-made for you.”
Laid out across 74,000 square metres, DusitD2 Naseem has individual chalets, as well as buildings that house one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom suites, alongside studio rooms.
“Our Omanisation is very high – more than 40 percent,” explained Stutz. “We are very proud and happy that we hired both some experienced as well as some young talents, and taught them about our Dusit traditions, and how we respect and treat people.
“We have 17 different nationalities at the hotel,” he added.
“They have given people an experience that is unparalleled, so they enjoy their work. They enjoy the environment, we do a lot of things that we do to appreciate our staff. If you treat your staff very well, then they will treat our guests very well. Our resort…it’s been built for families: We are affordable, still giving you the best experience in service.”
