Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has seized more than 150 unauthorised military clothes during its inspection tours in the markets of the Wilayat of Muttrah, Muscat Governorate.
CPA said in a statement: "The Consumer Protection Authority in Muscat recently carried out inspection visits to 62 centres and shops in the Wilayat of Muttrah, in order to ascertain the extent to which the shops comply with the consumer protection law and regulation, and the relevant systems and decisions, and to find a safe consumer market that is free from everything that may harm the safety and health of the consumer, to monitor the markets, to monitor abuses and to take appropriate legal measures."
During the inspection visits to the Wilayat of Muttrah, 45 expired goods were seized, seven shops were raided, and 30 warnings were issued for non-compliance with the Consumer Protection Law and its Executive Regulations. In addition, 151 unauthorised military clothes were seized, which is in violation of Consumer Protection Authority Decision No. 9 / 2019 regarding the ban on the circulation of military or similar clothes and their accessories and anyone who violates the provisions of this decision is punished with an administrative fine.
The inspection visits also resulted in the monitoring of a number of observations, and many complaints and communications were resolved in the field. Seizure reports were issued against some violators, and administrative and legal procedures are being completed in their regard.
