Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,140.44 points, down by 0.39 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index also ended down by 0.03 per cent at 471.79 points.
Takaful Oman, up 6.45 per cent, was the top gainer while, A’Saffa Foods, down 9.68 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of National Bank Oman were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 353 trades were executed during the day’s trading session, generating turnover of OMR1.79 million, with more than 11.24 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 6 advanced, 14 declined, and 23 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR57,097 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR52,000, followed by foreign investors for OMR5,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,570.33 points, down 0.1 per cent. Prices of Takaful Oman and Ahlia Insurance were up by 6.45 per cent and 2.65 per cent respectively. Prices of Global Financial Investments, Muscat Finance, United Finance, Taageer Finance and Al Anwar Investment were down by 2.78 per cent, 2.74 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 2.13 per cent 0and 1.25 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,079.24 points, down 0.19 per cent. Construction Materials was the only gainer up by 2.86 per cent. Prices of A’Saffa Foods, Oman Fisheries and Oman Cement were down by 9.68 per cent, 3.28 per cent and 0.39 per cent respectively.
Services Index was down by 0.07 per cent before closing at 1,613.37 points. Prices of Phoenix Power, Oman Education & Training and Al Jazeera Services were up by 4.17 per cent, 2.86 per cent and 0.37 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Telecom, Oman National Engineering and Al Maha Markting were down by 3.13 per cent, 1.89 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively.
