Muscat: A group of young Omanis has come up with a door to door delivery service - for anything.
Mandoob is a 100 per cent Omani company, which works as a mediator, delivering different items and requests to and from consumers all over the Sultanate for “any door to door delivery,” simply by communicating with the company’s phone number, Twitter, WhatsApp messages and soon via their own mobile application.
“Our project helped us and other young Omanis from across the country to have an income, as well as helped the small to medium-sized enterprise (SME)owners to grow their business by offering them mediators when needed,” said Al Hussain Al Bahri, one of the Mandoob’s founders.
“Women are also part of our team, in fact a few of our best mediators are female.”
Sharing economy
Al Bahri also added that this company follows the concept of a sharing economy, which is a social activity involving online transactions, which was hard for them to explain to their audience at first, but later with the use of the social media, they were able to deliver the company’s concept, especially after citing the examples of other famous companies using the same concept, such as Uber and Carriage in Saudi Arabia.
The idea for Mandoob began in 2015, when Al Bahri and four others started to collaborate with SME owners and work as their mediators, and in June this year they expanded their business, included new members in the team from all over Oman and set no limits for their door to door services.
"As any small growing company, we faced many challenges, starting with finding an office with the suitable rent amount, and finding an effective way to stay communicate with all the mediators," Al Bahri said.
He added that anyone can become part of a team by only filling the online application attached to the company’s Twitter account and get his money transferred to his bank account after seven days.
