Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,174.3 points, up by 0.49 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.45 per cent at 476.95 points.
A'Saffa Foods, up 5.56 per cent, was the top gainer while, Oman Cables Industry, down 9.33 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Muscat Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while the Oman Cables Industry were the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 551 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2 million, with more than 9.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 52 traded securities, 17 advanced, 6 declined, and 29 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR109,000, followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR4,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,632.16 points, up 0.39 per cent. Prices of Al Madina Investments, Dhofar Insurance, Ominvest, Sohar International Bank and Al Anwar Investment were up by 2.78 per cent, 2.15 per cent, 1.91 per cent, 1.85 per cent and 1.19 per cent respectively. Takaful Oman was the only loser down by 2.86 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,125.78 points, up 0.14 per cent. Prices of A'Saffa Foods, Al Anwar Ceramics, Raysut Cement, National Aluminium and Galfar Engineering were up by 5.56 per cent, 4.19 per cent, 3.7 per cent, 3.37 per cent and 1.82 per cent respectively. Prices of Oman Cables Industry and Gulf Mushroom Products were down by 9.33 per cent and 4.17 per cent respectively.
Services Index was up by 0.51 per cent before closing at 1,645.22 points. Prices of Sembcorp Salalah, Phoenix Power and OIFC were up by 2.67 per cent, 2.04 per cent and 2.03 per cent respectively. Prices of Barka Desalination, Oman National Engineering and Ooredoo were down by 6.04 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.6 per cent respectively.
