Ornamental plants donated to Central Plant Nursery

Muscat: Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman, Ameer Ajwad donated different varieties of Sri Lankan ornamental plants to the Central Plant Nursery of the Royal Gardens and Farms (Royal Court Affairs) of the Sultanate of Oman.

A variety of Sri Lankan ornamental plants namely orchids, leather-ferns, aspidistras, cane palms, butterfly palms and cast iron plants were presented by Ambassador Ameer Ajwad to Engineer Saleh Abdullah Azzan Al-Jahdhami, Director, Department of Plant Nurseries of the Royal Gardens and Farms of Royal Court Affairs of Oman, at the Central Plant Nursery of Royal Gardens and Farms located at Zulfa, Mubaila in Muscat, Oman.

These popular Sri Lankan ornamental plants are to be planted in Royal Gardens and Farms in Salalah, Oman.

Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman arranged this donation by the Peradeniya Botanical Garden, which is the largest and most elegant botanical garden in Sri Lanka, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism of Sri Lanka on the request made by the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman.                            

Presenting the plants, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad stated that Sri Lanka and Oman have huge potential synergies in the field of agriculture and farming and that he was pleased to initiate cooperation in this field between the two friendly countries by donating popular Sri Lankan ornamental plants to the Central Plant Nursery of the Royal Gardens and Farms   (Royal Court Affairs) of the Sultanate of Oman.

Officials of the Central Plant Nursery of the Royal Gardens and Farms (Royal Court Affairs) of the Sultanate of Oman at Zulfa, Mobaila in Muscat, also participated during  the presentation.  

Ambassador Ameer Ajwad was hosted a tour around the Central Plant Nursery of Royal Gardens and Farms by Engineer Saleh Al-Jahdhami, Director of the Department of Plant Nurseries of the Royal Gardens and Farms of the Sultanate of Oman.
