MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,182.51 points, down by 0.3 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.03 per cent at 482.76 points.

Muscat Finance, up 5.63 per cent, was the top gainer while, Taageer Finance, down 4 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Muscat Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 1077 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.48 million, with more than 33.55 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 12 advanced, 10 declined, and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers of OMR496,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR31,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,626.18 points, down 0.09 per cent. Prices of Muscat Finance, Al Madina Investments, Global Financial Investments, Oman & Emirates Investment and Bank Muscat were up by 5.63 per cent, 4.23 per cent, 1.33 per cent, 1.16 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively. Prices of Taageer Finance, Al Anwar Investment, Al Madina Takaful and National Bank Oman were down by 4 per cent, 1.15 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,124.91 points, up 0.42 per cent. Prices of Galfar Engineering, Al Maha Ceramics, National Aluminium and Oman Fisheries were up by 3.88 per cent, 3.52 per cent, 2.3 per cent and 0.9 per cent respectively. Prices of Voltamp Energy, Oman Flour Mills, Raysut Cement and Oman Cement were down by 1.94 per cent, 1.19 per cent, 0.61 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.33 per cent before closing at 1,651.16 points. Prices of Sohar Power, Oman National Engineering and National Gas were up by 4.88 per cent, 0.94 per cent and 0.7 per cent respectively. Prices of Ooredoo and Oman Telecom were down by 2.3 per cent and 1.35 per cent respectively.
